WHY GET INVOLVED WITH
ROAD TO MAUI?
Although state programs and federal aid were activated by day three of the Maui disaster, local and Native Hawaiian communities found themselves isolated and operating tirelessly to survive on their own throughout the first two weeks. Community leaders resourcefully reverted to village-like systems, forming "pods" led by a po'o (head) to communicate vital necessities, dispersing food, water, and supplies.
History and recent events have proven that unintended consequences from mis-aligned parties continue to damage Hawaii as a whole. The gravely mismanaged emergency response system, compounded with distrust from years of disparity, echoes deeply within the hearts of the Hawaiian people. Unfortunately, the destruction seen in Hawaii's beloved Lāhainā Town will sadly resonate as a dismal reminder of hopelessness and the ever-growing displacement of Native Hawaiians from their homeland.

DONATE TO THE ROAD TO MAUI FUND
Developing trust and establishing expectations between Native Hawaiians and our world-partners who have previously benefited from the spirit of Aloha is paramount to our purpose. Determining and communicating long-term recovery efforts will be essential to all of Hawaii. Hence it is imperative for corporations and influential entities to understand the credibility and optimism that ripples throughout the community when they effectively partner with authentic Native Hawaiian organizations and trusted community leaders.
